What Assay records about you

Assay is a hiring assessment product built by Kravos Tech Private Limited. If a company has invited you to an assessment, this page explains exactly what is recorded, who processes it, how the result is produced, and what you can ask us to do about it.

Written for you, not for a lawyer

Where something is not yet how it should be, this page says so rather than leaving it out.

What we record

Your account

Your email address, and an authentication identifier issued by Firebase when you sign in. We do not store your password. Firebase handles authentication and we never see it.

Your resume, if one was provided

If you or the company uploaded a resume, the file is stored, and its text is extracted and parsed automatically so the role can be matched against your background.

During the work trial

• The code you write, and the files in your sandbox
• Commands you run and their output
• A timestamped log of the session, including when it started, when it ended, and how it ended
• Whether you switched away from the assessment tab, and for how long. This is recorded, and it is used as an input to your evaluation. You should know that before you start, which is why it is stated plainly here.
• A record that your identity was verified. This means only that your sign-in was confirmed before the session began. No photograph, no identity document, and no biometric data is captured at any point.

During a spoken interview

• Your voice is streamed live to Deepgram, our speech processing provider, and converted to text.
• The text transcript is stored. The audio is not. Your speech passes through our servers to Deepgram and is not written to disk or kept by Kravos in any form. What remains afterwards is the written transcript of what you said.
• We have opted out of Deepgram’s model improvement programme, which means your interview audio is not used to train Deepgram’s models. This is set in our configuration and is not optional on our side.
• Deepgram’s own handling and retention of audio in transit is governed by Deepgram’s terms, not ours. We can state what we do with your audio. We cannot make commitments on their behalf.

Your evaluation

A score, its component subtotals, whether it met the company’s threshold, and the written reasoning behind it.

Who processes your data

Every third party involved is listed on Sub-processors, together with what each one does. We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with anyone outside that list and the company that invited you.

How your result is produced

Your work trial and your interview answers are assessed by a language model against a rubric the hiring company defines in advance. The model produces a score with written reasoning for each component.

The result is not the final decision

The company that invited you sees the score, the reasoning, and your actual work, and decides for itself. Assay does not reject candidates. It produces an assessment that a human then acts on.

If you believe your assessment is wrong, including if the transcript misheard you, contact the company that invited you. They can see the full transcript and evidence behind the score, and they can disregard it.

How long we keep it

We do not currently delete assessment data automatically

There is no retention period enforced in the product today, which means your assessment data is kept indefinitely until it is deleted on request.

We are stating this rather than publishing a retention period we do not yet implement. Establishing a defined retention period and enforcing it automatically is planned work, and this page will be updated when it is in place rather than before.
